Anyone who has used Facebook Marketplace knows that it tends to attract some incredibly unique people you might not otherwise get the chance to haggle with. Some people, for example, who seem to have little to no idea how the world works, but miraculously manage to make it through each day regardless.

Take this person Twitter user Grace encountered, who inquired about some bookshelves she was selling. They messaged her asking if the shelves came with the books pictured, to which she said no, because obviously they don’t, that isn’t a thing. Undeterred, they responded, “I will take them if they come with the books.”
it's called negotiation. it's a delicate art

At this point, Grace probably realized it was a lost cause, but she responded anyway, writing, “They don’t come with the books.” The buyer persisted, writing, “I am only taking them if they do. Do we have a deal?” To which Grace again clarified that the shelves were for sale, not the books. The buyer’s response was an incredibly obvious, “I’m confused.” You and me both, buddy.
i sold a vinyl shelf and someone asked if the records were included and when i said no he asked if he could buy them anyway

According to the replies, there are others like this buyer out there, waiting to annoy innocent Facebook Marketplace sellers, including one person who, when told that the vinyl records on a vinyl shelf weren’t included in the sale, asked if he could buy them anyway.
I will take them if they come with the wall and the rest of the building

It’s an interesting strategy for decorating your home: Buy the furniture and contents together, killing two birds with one stone and saving yourself a bunch of time acquiring books and records you actually like. I suspect this tweeter is right: To people like this, the books are part of the decoration, and not valued belongings in their own right. How depressing!
